Position Overview
A growing engineering consulting organization is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its Healthcare team. This onsite role is responsible for leading electrical design efforts on healthcare facility projects while providing technical expertise, project leadership, and exceptional client service.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing electrical systems for healthcare facilities, a strong understanding of applicable healthcare codes and standards, and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, project teams, and stakeholders. This position also supports business development initiatives through proposal development and client engagement activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and support power distribution systems for healthcare and commercial building projects.
- Design motor feeders, starters, lighting systems, and building power systems.
- Develop designs for specialty electrical systems including:
- Emergency power systems
- Generator systems
- UPS systems
- Ground fault protection systems
- Lightning protection systems
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.
- Perform voltage drop, short-circuit, and arc flash analyses.
- Coordinate design activities with mechanical, civil, structural, architectural, and construction teams.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout project execution.
- Participate in proposal development and business development activities.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, designers, and clients to successfully deliver projects.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to team members as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Ohio or the ability to obtain Ohio licensure through comity.
- 10+ years of electrical engineering experience.
- Experience designing electrical systems for healthcare facilities.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare design standards including FGI Guidelines and NFPA 99.
- Experience with building power distribution and lighting systems.
- Knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD or similar design platforms.
- Comprehensive understanding of electrical, mechanical, civil, and structural construction practices.
- Strong knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including:
- NEC
- NFPA
- NESC
- ANSI/IEEE
- IBC
- Life Safety Code
- Supervisory or people-management experience.
- Strong project leadership and client relationship skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without current or future sponsorship requirements.
Preferred
- Additional healthcare facility design experience.
- Experience with healthcare infrastructure projects.
- PE registration in multiple states.
Travel
- Up to 25% domestic travel may be required.
Working Conditions
- Some assignments may involve visits to active construction sites.
- Occasional lifting or movement of field-testing equipment may be required.
- Work environments may include uneven terrain typical of construction projects.
