Our client, a leading international law firm, is seeking a talented Associate Attorney to join its highly regarded International Trade Practice Group in Washington, DC. This is an exceptional opportunity to work with a sophisticated team advising clients on complex international trade and regulatory matters, including trade remedies, sanctions, export controls, customs-related issues, and regulatory compliance. The practice represents domestic and international clients navigating evolving global trade regulations and enforcement environments.
Candidate Profile
- JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record
- Active Bar Admission in Washington, DC, in good standing
- 2-4 years of substantive international trade experience
- Experience counseling clients on a broad range of U.S. international trade regulatory issues
- Experience with trade remedy matters, including antidumping (AD) and countervailing duty (CVD) proceedings
- Experience litigating before U.S. trade agencies and the U.S. Court of International Trade
- Experience advising clients on economic sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)
- Experience with Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and export control matters administered by the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS)
- Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
- Large law firm experience preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on a wide range of international trade and regulatory compliance matters
- Counsel clients regarding U.S. trade remedy laws, including AD/CVD proceedings and related enforcement matters
- Represent clients before government agencies and in litigation before the U.S. Court of International Trade
- Provide strategic advice regarding U.S. economic sanctions, export controls, and cross-border regulatory requirements
- Conduct regulatory analyses and assist clients in developing compliance programs related to international trade regulations
- Monitor and assess developments in trade policy, sanctions, and export control regimes affecting client operations
- Collaborate with attorneys across practice areas on complex international business, regulatory, and governmental matters
