Hours and compensation potential:•Position is full time.•Range is $127,000-$200,000 dependent on years of experience. •A full benefit package is offered and a relocation/sign-on bonus is possible. What you’ll be doing:•Directs and coordinates activities and functions of the hospital pharmacy. Plans and implements procedures in hospital pharmacy according to hospital policies and legal requirements. •Reviews and analyzes records to indicate prescribing trends, excessive usage and report quarterly to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.   •Works on preparation of pharmacy budget and department reports required by hospital administrators. •Attends medical staff meetings to advise and inform hospital physician and mid-levels of drug applications and characteristics.•Responsible for quality assurance techniques to ensure safe, legal, and ethical practices.  •Organizes daily activities in conjunction with staffing needs so that all assignments are completed within established time frames and required meetings are attended.   •Ensures that pharmacy staff has the necessary skills and equipment to provide appropriate pharmaceutical care.   •Coordinates routine rounds to check Pyxis units, reconciles narcotic documentation, and clarifies medication administration records with pharmacy records.•Ensures that departmental commitment to patient care consists of promptly, accurately, and courteously responding to physician, nursing, and patient requests.  •Utilizes CPOE for physician orders.•Supervises the refilling of medication areas, Pyxis med-stations and maintains controlled substance security and control by utilizing Pyxis CII safe.  •Manages ordering pharmaceuticals and supplies while maintaining an appropriate control of inventory throughout the facility. •Will be responsible and assistance in maintenance of 340B drug program.  •Reviews and revises policies and procedures for the department. •Coordinates clinical pharmacy services to include but not be limited to the following: answering drug information requests, drug therapy monitoring prevention of drug interactions, patient education, responding to code blue situations, medication reconciliation and contributing towards in-service education of staff. •Maintains current Kansas Board of Pharmacy License, DEA permit, and Medicare requirements for the department. •Coordinates drug recalls from manufacturers and maintains a process for the control of outdated medications.Additional info:Facility is acute care hospital under 50 beds and not for profit. The previous Director moved to a larger facility. This position is a hands-on Director.
There is a staff of 6 FT employees(including the Director) and one PT(0.5) employee.
The department is located in a secured room in the heart of the nursing wing.
