Our client is currently seeking an experienced Technical Writer. The position will be responsible for writing tall technical documentation for a system
modernization project.
 
Technical Writer Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Independently gather information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, write procedure manuals, technical specifications, configurable/installation instructions, and process documentation.
  • Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with a consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation.
  • Write documentation for internal teams such as developers and programmers.
  • Communicate complex ideas in a concise manner.
  • Disseminate technical information in easy-to-understand language for a non-technical audience.
  • Ability to take existing and potential content and improve it.
  • Have technical accuracy in writing user documentation.
  • Work with product designers to understand the requirements including layout and design.
  • Work and communicate effectively with software developers, product marketing, and product managers to write and maintain high-quality documentation.
  • Recommend designs, layouts, and formats for documents
  • Assess, analyze, and evaluate versatile audiences, including non-technical users, system administrators, integrators, and programmers.
 
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Technical Writing required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or other related disciplines required.
  • Previous software development experience preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of delivery methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, etc.) preferred. 
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics.
  • Ability to work with difficult dynamics across multiple teams.
  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the systems development life cycle (SDLC).

Ability to commute/relocate:
  • Baton Rouge, LA: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
