Overview
A mid-sized New York City law firm is seeking an associate attorney with 5–8 years of construction and real estate development experience, particularly in drafting and negotiating license access agreements. The ideal candidate will bring strong transactional skills, a track record in construction-related agreements, and the ability to support partners while managing matters independently.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, negotiate, and review license access agreements related to construction and development projects.
  • Revise and negotiate AIA contract forms and other construction-related agreements.
  • Advise developers, property owners, and contractors on site access, licensing rights, and project planning issues.
  • Conduct due diligence and provide legal support for major real estate development projects.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys while independently managing drafting and transactional work.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable city and state construction regulations.
  • Oversee multiple transactions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of construction or real estate law experience, with a transactional focus.
  • Proven expertise in license agreements, easements, and construction access contracts.
  • Familiarity with AIA contracts strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with clients, counterparties, and team members.
  • Strong organizational skills to balance high-volume, deadline-driven work.
  • Active New York Bar admission required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $200,000–$350,000, dependent on experience, seniority, and potential portable business.
  • Eligible for performance bonuses and percentage of originations.
