Animal Care and Control OfficerNashville, TN $25/hr + Full Benefits

As an Animal Care and Control Officer 3, you'll be at the forefront of animal rescue and protection in Nashville/Davidson County.

  • Patrol and Respond: Patrol assigned areas in Nashville-Davidson County, responding to calls for assistance and rescuing animals in need.
  • Investigate and Enforce: Investigate allegations of animal cruelty, apprehend stray animals, and enforce local and state animal control laws.
  • Rescue and Care: Transport injured and ill animals to shelters and veterinarians, perform field euthanasia when necessary, and ensure humane treatment of all animals.
  • Community Engagement: Address groups on animal control safety and health issues, and participate in outreach and liaison programs.
  • Documentation and Legal Support: Prepare investigative reports, legal documents, and testify in court as needed.
  • Make a Difference: Your work will directly impact the welfare of animals and the safety of the community.
  • Team Environment: Collaborate with shelter managers and staff, fostering a spirit of teamwork and cooperation.

  • Reliable: Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance is a must.

Qualifications: 

  • Must be a Certified Animal Euthanasia Technician (CAET), or obtain certification within six months of hire. NOTICE: State regulations prohibit anyone with a criminal conviction of any kind from obtaining CAET.    
  • Valid class "D" driver's license, use of personal vehicle, and maintenance of valid personal vehicle insurance as required by Tennessee Law.    
  • Must receive pre-exposure rabies vaccinations. 
Ideal Candidate:
  • Must be a Certified Animal Euthanasia Technician (CAET), or obtain certification within six months
  • Valid class "D" driver's license

  • Animal Handling: Proficiency in safely and humanely managing, restraining, and caring for animals.
  • Law Enforcement: Familiarity with animal control laws and ordinances, and ability to enforce them.
  • Emergency Response: Skills to respond to emergency situations with animals, including first aid.
  • Customer Service: Strong communication skills to interact with the public, handle complaints, etc.

The perfect Animal Care and Control Officer candidate is a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated individual who excels in both animal care and law enforcement with 5 to 7 years of experience.
