Summary:The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for developing the technical deliverables required for industrial process systems. This position is responsible for the development of process design parameters including design concept, criteria, code interpretations, equipment design calculations, and equipment specification and selections. This position is responsible for the overall system design for industrial facilities in one or more of the following areas: mid-stream, gathering, gas treating and oil and gas.

*Accountabilities:*

  • Know and understand the discipline specific scope of work, design criteria, and project standards
  • Direct drafters, designers, and other engineers to complete tasks
  • Responsible for preparing and maintaining calculations as required by the project plan for submittals for any applicable permits or client review
  • Participate in weekly calls as requested to verify scope and information
  • Check work received from Designers/Drafters for correctness and quality
  • Verify that work meets Company and/or project standards
  • Sign-off on check prints as required by project QA plan
  • Manage projects and associated tasks as assigned by Supervisor
  • Develop written scopes of work, work plans, and schedules to complete projects
  • Work directly with clients to execute projects and develop new ones
  • Regularly lead and provide direction to project teams (not including supervisory responsibility)
  • Provide written project progress report for clients and management as appropriate
  • Develop proposals for new projects
  • Other duties as requested by Management
  • Must pass random drug and background screenings

*Qualifications, Abilities, Skills, and Knowledge:*

  • Ability to perform under minimal supervision and make independent decisions on projects
  • Ability to interact directly with Clients regarding projects
  • Ability to handle projects requiring expertise in more than one area of engineering and design to fit multiple concerns and constraints of the client
  • Ability to proactively forecast and identify project needs and project performance issues and remediate as necessary
  • Knowledge and experience as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in process design with strong understanding of systems and mechanical and/or chemical engineering practices and processes
  • Demonstrated experience in the design of process piping, tanking, blending, and chemical processes
  • Demonstrated experience developing process parameters including mass flow, heat transfer, material balance capacities and rates
  • Demonstrated experience in developing industry specific calculations for systems such as chemical balance, pipe flow rates, compression, maximum intended inventory, over pressure protection
  • Demonstrated experience with one of the following analysis tools: UniSim, HYSYS, ProMax or other simulation software
  • Lead Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) Sessions and participate in HAZOP studies
  • Demonstrated experience developing the system design including PFD, PID, Layouts and Specifications
  • Demonstrated experience developing not to exceed horse powers and basic process data with preliminary information
  • Demonstrated experience identifying key process and system data
  • Demonstrated experience selecting equipment such as process units and instruments
  • Experience developing sizing information for Process Equipment (compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, distillation columns, separators, reactors, etc.) and providing information in the form of equipment data sheets
  • Demonstrated experience with Battery Limit Lists including the line lists, equipment list, and initial instrument list
  • Experience with logic diagrams and cause & effect charts for the facility
  • Ability to size and select relief valves per industry codes and client requirements.
  • Experience with flare system analysis and final reporting, including the sizing of the relief valve inlet and outlet line sizing
  • Demonstrated experience interfacing with the mechanical, structural, and electrical engineers
  • Demonstrated experience with the management of key design basis documents
  • General understanding of ANSI and NFPA

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors (or higher) Degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Registration as Professional Engineer
  • Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience as an engineer
  • Consultant or operational experience preferred
