We are conducting a search for a proficient Legal Assistant to support a team of Immigration Attorneys. The ideal candidate will have at least 3-4 years of experience as a Legal Assistant with a strong background in immigration law preferred.


This role requires adeptness in legal secretarial duties, office practices, and exceptional organizational skills such as scheduling hearings, preparing legal documents and correspondence, docketing cases and maintaining court dockets and diaries, and providing information and direction to others.


What You'll Do:

  • Transcribe, format, input, edit, retrieve, copy, and transmit text and data, while efficiently coordinating case preparation.
  • Assist attorneys in managing correspondence, reports, and legal documents, including drafting letters and documents, collecting and analyzing information, and organizing client conferences and attorney meetings.
  • Maintain attorney calendars, monitor court appearances, pleadings, and filing requirements, and anticipate changes in litigation or transaction preparation.
  • Act as a representative for attorneys, communicating with clients, following up on delegated assignments, and knowing when to refer matters to attorneys.
  • Document and input attorney billable time and reimbursable expenses to generate revenues.
  • Develop and utilize filing and retrieval systems, maintain meeting transcripts, and document evidence for historical reference.
  • Enhance department and organizational reputation by accomplishing new tasks and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

General Office Duties (Specific to New York Location):

  • Welcome visitors and guests, and prepare meeting rooms.
  • Coordinate overall small office activities.


What You'll Bring:

  • High school diploma with 3-4 years of experience as a Legal Assistant/Secretary.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to manage deliveries, stock supplies, and interface with vendors.
  • Liaison with IT personnel for equipment and software/hardware issues.
  • Contact person for building maintenance personnel.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency in legal software.
  • Superior listening and communication skills.
  • Independent worker with a keen ability to meet deadlines.
  • Physical ability to sit, type, talk, hear, and occasionally lift or move up to 25 lbs.
