We are conducting a search for an experienced Senior Litigation Paralegal who has a Bachelor’s Degree and at least five years of relevant experience. Trial experience, cite-checking, proofreading, and Bluebook citation are essential.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-level paralegal support during all phases of the litigation process, from the commencement of a new action to the discovery period and through trial and post-trial findings and appeals. Senior Paralegals have the technical skill and professional maturity that enables them to work more independently, while still under the supervision of an attorney. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
What You'll Do:
Prepare for and attend depositions and oral arguments:
Coordinate deposition/ argument logistics
Prepare witness files and exhibits to be used at deposition
Attend deposition with attorney to take notes, handle exhibits during the deposition, and digest transcripts to summarize highlights of a proceeding
Organize and track argument preparation materials
Assist in the courtroom
Motion practice and court filings:
Draft certain motions and pleadings
Cite-check briefs and motions to ensure consistency with sources cited and proper citation style (Bluebook or other applicable style guide)
Coordinate service of process and courtesy copies
Prepare properly formatted templates of briefs, motions, and other filings compliant with applicable jurisdictional rules
Proofread briefs, motions, and other filings prior to filing
Assemble and review appellate appendices and exhibits
Coordinate printing and delivery of briefs, compliant with applicable jurisdictional rules
Communicate with clerk’s offices at state, federal, and appellate courts
Electronically file briefs and other materials
Prepare for and attend trials:
Coordinate trial logistics and liaison with Trial and Litigation Support Manager, as necessary
Organize and track exhibits, files and all other supporting documents
Assist attorneys in the courtroom by taking notes and operating courtroom presentation software.
Assist in the preparation of witness testimony
What You'll Bring:
Available to work overtime, as required
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum of 5 years' experience
Knowledge of state and federal civil procedure, and law of assigned specialized practice area
Strong cite-checking, proofreading, and Bluebooking skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Supervisory skills
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to work well with others, including clients
Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
