Title:   Senior Accountant

Location:   Knoxville, TN 37919, USAReports to:  Chief Accounting Officer

 

 

Job Details

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Upholds the bank's core values and core purpose of "Act with Integrity, Be Enthusiastic, Create Positivity, Demonstrate Accountability and Embrace Change". 
  2. Interact with other business units throughout the bank.
  3. Current Expected Credit Loss (CECL) modeling and calculation.
  4. Back up regulatory reporting functions – SEC, Federal Reserve, FDIC, etc.
  5. Incentive data gathering, calculation, and tracking.
  6. Assist with monthly/quarterly federal and state tax provision calculation.
  7. Maintain and update Bank accrual and prepaid accounting system.
  8. Maintain and update Bank fixed asset accounting system.
  9. Maintain and update Bank investment portfolio and safekeeping activity.
  10. Assist with CDARS, ICS, and Brokered CD funding requests.
  11. Perform verification and reconciliation of general ledger and internal accounts.
  12. Review, balance, and interpret system reports and make corrections as needed.
  13. Investigate outages/problems and ensure follow-up action when necessary.
  14. Prepare and process journal entries and debit/credit tickets.
  15. Verify that all transactions comply with SmartBank policies and procedures.
  16. Organize and prepare audit requests.
  17. Organize and prepare analysis of accounts.
  18. Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local banking related laws/regulations.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

 

Education:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  2. Two years of experience in banking and accounting/finance required.

 

Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates):

  1. None

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Strong analytical skills and a general knowledge of accounting principles.
  2. Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  3. Proficient level of general computer competency.
  4. Strong working knowledge of Excel.
  5. Detail oriented.
  6. Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
  7. Provide exceptional customer service.
  8. Monitor own work to ensure quality and apply feedback to improve performance.
  9. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  10. Demonstrate a positive attitude.
  11. High level of integrity.

  5. May be required to periodically work overtime.
