The Opportunity: Lead Advanced Cardiac Critical Care Operations

We are seeking a proven and certified clinical leader to assume the critical role of Nursing Supervisor for the night shift in our specialized Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU).   • Advanced Cardiac Focus: The 27-bed CICU is a regional center for complex cardiac and medical critical care. As the Night Supervisor, you will oversee the management of:

    • Pre- and Post-operative Cardiac patients.

    • Patients requiring Mechanical Circulatory Support (e.g., IABP, VADs).

    • Critical medical conditions including Severe Heart Failure, Post-MI, CRRT, TTM, DKA, Severe Sepsis, and Respiratory Failure.

  • Operational Control: Functioning under the direction of the nurse management team, you will provide immediate leadership, overseeing and directing unit activities and personnel, and ensuring efficient, cost-effective service.

  • Clinical Authority: Serve as the immediate clinical and administrative resource on the night shift, ensuring all patient care adheres to the highest standards and established protocols, including the ANA Nursing Administration: Scope and Standards of Practice.

Key Responsibilities and Leadership Focus

As the Night Shift Nursing Supervisor, your focus will be on clinical excellence, resource management, and unit coordination:

  • Unit Coordination: Planning, organizing, controlling, and coordinating department activities to optimize patient flow, ensure staff competency, and maintain high-quality service throughout the night.

  • Clinical Intervention: Providing expert consultation and decisive leadership during clinical emergencies and rapid response events within the unit.

  • Personnel Oversight: Making critical staffing assignments, managing daily resource allocation, and ensuring staff adherence to hospital policies and patient safety standards.

  • Quality Assurance: Monitoring patient care delivery and documentation for quality and compliance, addressing performance issues, and contributing to unit-specific quality improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of recent, acute care clinical experience in a Critical Care or Specialty ICU setting

  • Leadership Experience: Proven Charge Nurse, Relief Charge Nurse, or formal Nursing Leadership experience within an acute care hospital setting.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required.

  • License: Current and active California Registered Nurse (RN) License upon hire.

  • Certifications (Must have upon hire):

    • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association

    • One professional certification in a related area (e.g., CCRN, CNML, PCCN)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) or a related field.

  • Formal, sustained management or leadership experience.

Compensation and Benefits

The organization provides a highly competitive salary package reflecting the seniority of the role. The base pay range is $185,000 – $225,000, with additional compensation for shift differentials and other premiums.
