Job Overview:

Our client is currently in a rapid-growth phase, producing bulk food additives using state-of-the-art drying technologies as well as developing new processes and equipment for emerging clients such as chemical producers. This company custom designs and installs skid-mounted units using fabricators, for both internal use as well as for external clients. 70% of this engineer's time will be spent in the pilot plant or out on the production flood developing new processes and modifying equipment based on the requests of internal stakeholders as well as external customers. 30% of the time will spent doing process simulations, analyzing process data, and setting up lab experiments using CFD (Comsol), MATLAB, Aspen, and/or Fluent. This person will use CAD to assist inside engineer and outside engineers with new designs. You will be mentored by senior engineers on plant and pilot processes. This person is eligible for a bonus. Relocation assistance is also available.

 

Requirements:

  • BS, MS or PhD Chemical Engineer or Mechanical Engineer (or related, Physics, etc.) with Permanent Residency or US Citizenship
  • 5+ years of overall experience, doing scale-up or developing new processes and equipment, out of foods, chemicals, processing equipment or something related.
  • 1+ years of Computational Fluid Modeling Experimental Design (FLUENT or COMSOL) and/or MATLAB, Aspen or SimSci
  • Must have hands-on experience with drying (ideally spray drying), filtration, centrifugation, or any type of particle separation
  • Qualified applicants will have a strong background in fundamental heat & mass transfer and fluid dynamics
  • Experience specifying and installing equipment in a lab or production setting

Pluses:

  • CAD Rheology, molecular dynamics, and molecular force interactions
  • PLC experience
