This role is based at their high-output Washington, PA manufacturing facility, specializing in steel outlet boxes, covers, and prefabricated electrical assemblies. This fast-paced, automated environment demands exceptional talent committed to continuous improvement and problem-solving.

What You’ll Do:The Tooling Design Engineer will lead and support critical tooling initiatives within a dynamic manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include designing, constructing, and maintaining advanced tooling systems while supervising the Tool and Die Department. This role is pivotal in driving efficiency, quality, and innovation within the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the design and development of complex progressive stamping tools, strip layouts, and die construction.
  • Implementing maintenance strategies to enhance tooling longevity and operational performance.
  • Troubleshooting tooling issues to minimize downtime and optimize manufacturing workflows.
  • Ensuring compliance with precise manufacturing standards and quality benchmarks.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to streamline production processes and achieve operational excellence.
  • Tracking tooling program progress from sourcing through production readiness.
  • Supervising and developing the Tool and Die team to foster continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Utilizing knowledge of die sensors, vision inspection, and related technology to optimize processes.
  • Applying expertise in GD&T dimensioning, wire EDM, CNC machining technologies, and tool steel applications.
  • Participating in lean manufacturing projects such as VSM, 5S, Standard Work, and setup reduction to drive process improvements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • At least two years of experience in designing complex, progressive stamping dies.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Residing within 50 miles of Washington, PA (active-duty military exempt from this requirement).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with servo presses and familiarity with advanced die sensors and vision inspection systems.
  • Understanding of ANSI/ISO drawing standards and participation in ISO 9001 audits.
  • Proficiency in lean manufacturing techniques such as value stream mapping and setup reduction.
  • Ability to troubleshoot stamping operations effectively.
  • Knowledge of materials, particularly tool steels and their applications.

Candidate Profile:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of related experience in mechanical or tooling engineering roles.
  • Travel: No travel required.
  • Management: Not a managerial position.
