Our Award-Winning Client, a leader in the design, manufacturing, and implementation of high-voltage underground cable systems across North America, is seeking a Sr Engineer, High Voltage Cable Design. This role requires the ability to provide exceptional technical solutions for customers, create engineering documentation, and develop innovative applications for high-voltage systems.

The selected candidate will work closely with clients to ensure their technical requirements are met and will play a key role in advancing our client's high-voltage cable engineering team.

Responsibilities:

• Designing and Implementing Cable Systems: Lead the design of comprehensive cable systems, including accessories, link boxes, fiber optic components, grounding specifics, and bonding configurations for voltage classes ranging from 69kV to 500kV. Utilize advanced analytical techniques and specialized software to meet project demands and resolve technical challenges.

• Customer Interaction & Technical Expertise: Represent our Award-Winning Client as an expert in the electro-mechanical behavior of high-voltage and extra-high-voltage cable systems. Provide customers with technical presentations and training, addressing installation and in-field application concerns.

• Project Leadership & Process Improvement: Spearhead the development of specifications, proposals, and safety documentation in collaboration with Sales & Marketing and Project Management teams. Continuously revise and enhance processes for increased efficiency.

• Manufacturing Support & Problem-Solving: Oversee the production cycle by creating testing plans, leading design handover meetings, and resolving production floor issues. Act as a liaison between production, installation, and customer needs, providing solutions that ensure smooth operations.

• Research & Development Initiatives: Lead R&D projects, managing timelines, budgets, and logistics. Apply the "Stage Gate" process to ensure successful project outcomes.

• Team Leadership & Training: Mentor and train junior engineers, guiding them through project execution and technical calculations. Promote safety across all project sites, adhering to our Award-Winning Client's commitment to a zero-incident culture.

Candidate Profile:

• Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field, coupled with 10 years of relevant experience, or a unique blend of education and proven accomplishments.

• Technical Mastery: Comprehensive understanding of underground power transmission engineering, along with proficiency in related disciplines to coordinate activities and resolve complex issues. Proficiency in ICEA, AEIC, IEC, and IEEE standards, as well as in thermal, mechanical, and electrical field calculations, is essential.

• Software Proficiency: Expertise in key software tools such as Cymcap, Comsol Multiphysics, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Matlab, PSCAD, Pull Planner, and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the power transmission cable industry and related markets, including knowledge of cable materials, testing processes, and industry standards.

• Communication & Technical Writing: Exceptional communication skills and technical writing abilities are required, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and internal teams.

• Programming Skills: Proficiency in Visual Basic and similar programming languages for coding spreadsheets and macros within Microsoft Excel.

• HV Underground design experience and know a software called Cymcap.
