Our Award Winning Client, a nationally operating and recognized leader in production and mechanical fleet operations, is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to play a pivotal role in maintaining and optimizing fleet equipment performance. This position is based in Candor, NC and supports the maintenance infrastructure of a robust equipment operation.

This intermediate-level mechanic is responsible for executing routine and complex maintenance, conducting diagnostics, and supporting entry-level technicians. The role significantly contributes to operational reliability, equipment lifespan, and workforce development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections on a variety of fleet equipment

  • Perform intermediate-level repairs and basic diagnostics under supervision

  • Provide guidance and on-the-job support to junior (Level C) fleet mechanics

  • Operate fleet maintenance systems, telematics tools, and diagnostic software platforms

  • Participate in general shop upkeep and organization to maintain operational safety and readiness

  • Must be available for second shift work, from 12:00PM to 10:30PM

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive Engineering, or a closely related technical field

  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in diesel or fleet maintenance

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Brake Certification and Refrigerant Recovery Certification

  • Familiarity with telematics platforms and diagnostic software systems used in fleet management

Preferred Profile Includes:

  • 5+ years of relevant mechanical experience across diverse equipment types

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and a collaborative team mindset

  • Exposure to preventive maintenance workflows in manufacturing or transportation sectors

  • Demonstrated ability to provide mentorship and technical assistance to junior mechanics

Candidate Overview:

  • Over 5 years of technical experience within mechanical or fleet operations

  • Holds vocational or associate-level technical education

  • Works independently without need for supervision

  • No sponsorship or security clearance required

  • Not required to travel for this role

  • Mid-level technical contributor, not a management role
