About the Role

Our Award-Winning Client, a leader in manufacturing and production, is seeking a skilled Powerhouse Maintenance Technician to join their team in Syracuse, New York. This full-time role offers the opportunity to work with advanced machinery and electrical components, focusing on maintaining and repairing critical powerhouse systems. The ideal candidate will have a passion for technical work and thrive in a dynamic, hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain complex machinery, including steam boilers, air compressors, automatic boiler controls, pumps, motors, and power generating equipment.
  • Perform chemical tests as required to maintain boilers and associated equipment.
  • Install, repair, and maintain pressurized piping systems, including water, steam, oil, compressed air, and natural gas systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair powerhouse equipment, both analog and digital control systems, using advanced diagnostic skills.
  • Work with schematics and blueprints to follow mechanical, electrical, and plumbing diagrams.
  • Use a variety of hand tools and pipe-fitting machinery for tasks like bending, threading, and cutting pipe, along with soldering and sweating copper joints as needed.
  • Maintain high-pressure steam stations, ensuring proper operation of steam lines, traps, strainers, regulators, and valves.

Qualifications

  • Basic Requirements:
    • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Powerhouse Technician, focusing on the repair and maintenance of steam boilers, air compressors, pumps, motors, power generating equipment, and pressurized piping systems.
    • Proficient in reading and interpreting schematics and blueprints.
    • Ability to work with high-pressure systems, including natural gas and steam-related apparatus.
    • Must live within 50 miles of the Syracuse facility.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • 5 years of full-time experience in powerhouse maintenance.
    • Experience in a manufacturing environment with a strong mechanical troubleshooting ability.

Skills and Expertise

  • Expertise in powerhouse maintenance, including steam boilers, power generation equipment, and piping systems.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with reading schematics, blueprints, and electrical/plumbing diagrams.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and proper use of maintenance tools and equipment.
