Our client needs a Design Engineer to add to their growing team.  You will create new products, as well as modifications and customization to existing designs.  You will help support continuous improvement efforts and manufacturability.  This role reports to the Engineering Manager.

What you will be doing:

  • Work to develop new product offerings, revisions to existing product lines and customization of products per customer orders
  • Utilize SolidWorks to create drawings, routings, and Bill of Materials, for production departments.
  • Generate Engineering Change Notices and Engineering Change Requests for products for improvements and changes.
  • Provide necessary support to the production floor on a day-to-day basis as products are being built.
  • Participate in product engineering reviews for manufacturability.
  • Responsible for designing products that comply with the certification files and regulatory standards. Requirements including markings, wiring diagrams, and data label, are to be applied to the product prior to shipping. (UL, ETL. NSF, CSA)
  • Provide pertinent information for outsourced materials and components.
  • Program parts and nesting data for CNC equipment.
  • Assist technical support, customer service, and sales, with any engineering needs.
  • Assist with estimating by providing costing and labor estimates for custom quote requests.
  • Recommends and implements designs or practices that will result in cost savings, optimize production standards, and improve quality.
  • Develop test methods to improve product reliability and performance.

  

What they are looking for:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s in engineering and 1+ years of experience (relevant Co-OP will count) or an Associate’s degree with more experience
  • Experience designing assembled fabricated metal products, preferably that include electrical wiring.  Equipment for the food service industry would be ideal.
  • 3D CAD skills are required, SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills are needed.
