Job Title: Senior Software Engineer (Back-End)Location: New York, NY (Onsite)Compensation: Up to $150K-180K base salary + equity options + comprehensive benefits

About the Role

Join a dynamic start-up in the heart of New York City as a Senior Software Engineer, specializing in back-end development. This role focuses on core back-end engineering tasks with a blend of platform and DevOps responsibilities, giving you the chance to make a pivotal impact as the company scales. As a hands-on team player, you’ll leverage your deep technical expertise to build, maintain, and optimize backend services and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Feature Development: Design, develop, and implement backend features and integrations primarily using Python and Django.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Develop, monitor, and enhance CI/CD pipelines for efficient, secure deployments.
  • Performance Testing: Conduct performance and load testing to ensure robust application performance.
  • Monitoring Systems: Establish and improve monitoring and alerting systems to support a highly available, resilient infrastructure.
  • Infrastructure Management: Manage and maintain Kubernetes clusters, supporting smooth deployment and scalability.
  • On-Call Support: Participate in a rotational on-call schedule to address critical issues as they arise.

Must-Have Requirements

  • Experience: 8+ years of back-end engineering experience, particularly with Python and Django.
  • Tech Stack Proficiency: Deep familiarity with Node.js, AWS, and PostgreSQL.
  • DevOps Skills: Strong understanding of AWS services, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Start-Up Background: Proven experience in fast-paced start-up environments (VC-backed, teams <200).
  • Adaptability: Ability to balance engineering and platform support responsibilities effectively.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Familiarity with additional cloud platforms and infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Experience with performance optimization and scalability techniques.
