Space Designer

Summary

The primary responsibility of the Space Designer is to analyze clients’ needs and provide space planning, design, and specification services. Services provided contribute to revenue generation and working with a sense of urgency to provide accurate and timely solutions to our customers is necessary. Candidate must be able to multitask and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

 

As a member of Marketing, the Space Designer is expected to:

  • Conduct him or herself in a manner that supports the company’s culture and core values.
  • Collaboratively work with other functional disciplines to support a culture of accountability, mutual respect, and teamwork.
  • Perform the responsibilities of the position in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

The Space Designer may be assigned accountability and responsibility for special projects as determined by the Vice President of Sales and Marketing.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 Interaction with Internal and External Customers:

  • Create, initiate, and complete thorough, neat, accurate drawings on a timely schedule as requested by Sales or Marketing teams.
  • Analyzes the customer’s facility to determine requirements. The ability to define and present various design concepts based on customer’s requirements.
  • Provide relevant design advice, product knowledge, and product recommendations based on understanding and clarifying the customer's requirements.
  • Provide equipment lists for projects to be used with drawings or separately for quotes.
  • Work with Engineering to create technical documents related to product introduction or improvements. Includes, but not limited to, operating instructions and product drawings to be used by the sales team and in marketing communication material including the website and the internal online resource center.
  • Learn and maintain knowledge of the ways products are used and be able to translate that into drawings and presentations that present the best use of company products in customer’s spaces.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, CAD drawings, Inventor, and Revit files as well as hand drawings and photos of customer’s facilities.
  • Understanding of the Metric system as well as Imperial measurements and converting between the two.
  • Advance drafting ability plus knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, 3DS Max Design, Excel, MSWord, BIM Software, and Adobe Acrobat software.
  • Must be able to understand and create perspective drawings, 2 and 3-dimensional product space layout drawings, and overall project design concepts.
  • Must have a sense of design to create options to maximize the capacity of space.
  • Keep current on new and innovative ways to present space plans to attract and retain customers.
  • Understanding of project scheduling and completing projects to a deadline and budget.
  • Responsible for maintaining a high level of professionalism with internal and external customers, working to establish a positive rapport with every interaction.
  • Understanding of code and regulation conformance.
  • Minimal travel required.
