Sr. Energy Engineer / Development Engineer 

The position will be remote.  Travel 25% of the time is required, including overnight travel. 

The Sr. Energy Engineer / Development Engineer is the primary technical project developer. As the technical solution leader, this role is responsible for understanding the technical needs and wants of a customer, and developing a comprehensive solution that meets their needs.  Sr. Energy Engineers / Development Engineers may deal with technical issues that include but not limited to facility energy consumption analysis and reduction strategies, general capital improvements, and even large-scale infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for managing internal and external resources to develop all aspects of the firms proposal which includes costing, savings, M&V, Operations and Maintenance and construction management.

Responsibilities

To be successful in this role you:

  • Have an excellent understanding of building mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems and equipment operating strategies
  • Are familiar with relevant building and energy codes and guidelines – NEC, NFPA, UFC, ASHRAE Standards
  • Facilitate adequate communication among the internal team, sub-contractors, and customers by creating technical plans, both written and schematic, to convey solutions and risks
  • Familiar with energy audit procedures, energy analysis and savings calculations,  and life cycle cost analysis
  • Identify and work with subcontractors and consultants to provide technical analysis and descriptions for project installation and to ensure the quality of work delivered exceeds the requirements of the job

Qualifications

Your background includes:

  • Bachelor’s Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural or Industrial Engineering
  • Five (5) to ten (10+) years relevant work experience with:
    • Mechanical, HVAC, Power Generation or Electrical Design in buildings
    • Engineering Economic Analysis
    • Project Management
    • ESCO/Performance Contracting experience
  • Must have PE license
  • CEM certification, preferred
  • Proficiency in operating Microsoft Office programs, Adobe, E-Quest, DOE-II, AutoCAD, Revit, TRANE Trace, or Carrier
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong customer advocacy
  • Maturity and professionalism to effectively handle frequent exposure to senior members, external organization members, customers, and the general public

A bonus to have:

  • Federal Market Experience
  • Familiar with at least one of the following:
    • DOE ESPC IDIQ contract language
    • USACE ESPC IDIQ contract language
    • UESC Enabling Documents
    • GSA Schedule 84
  • Familiarity with eProject Builder
  • Any of the following certifications:
    • CMVP
    • Any LEED Certification
    • NEBB
    • TAB
    • Any ASHRAE Certification
  • NCESS Record
