Hours: 4 days/10hr shift

The Opportunity

Join a global leader in the aerospace and defense industry as a Principal Project Engineer at our production facility. This is a critical role for an experienced engineer who will act as the Responsible Engineer Authority (REA), providing expert technical guidance and making high-stakes decisions to ensure the integrity of our hardware. This is a demanding position that requires a deep understanding of complex defense programs and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. If you're ready to make a significant impact on real-world production, this is your opportunity.

What You'll Do

You will serve as the top engineering authority on the production floor, working a 4/10 schedule (four 10-hour days). Your primary focus will be on resolving product non-conformances and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure quality and efficiency. Key responsibilities include:

  • Real-time Decision-Making: Act as the Responsible Engineer Authority (REA), with full knowledge and accountability for all design and performance aspects of your assigned programs. You'll make real-time decisions on non-conforming hardware, authorizing immediate actions like rework, repair, or scrap to prevent production delays.

  • Process Optimization: Drive continuous improvement efforts by focusing on process optimization and yield improvement. You will provide technical inputs to minimize waste and maximize resource utilization, helping to integrate technical data packages and update risk management documents.

  • Root Cause Analysis and Resolution: Partner closely with the Quality organization to provide critical technical insights for Root Cause and Corrective Actions (RCCA). Your expertise will be essential in identifying the root causes of non-conformances and implementing effective, long-term solutions.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert for a cross-functional team, including design, quality, and manufacturing engineers, to ensure cohesive and efficient problem-solving.

  • Technical Authority: Manage required engineering analysis and provide authoritative technical inputs on all aspects of your assigned programs, ensuring adherence to systems engineering principles and industry standards.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience: A Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with at least 7 years of experience. Without a degree, a minimum of 13 years of related experience is required.

  • Technical Acumen: Deep knowledge of CAD, GD&T, and materials analysis. You should have previous experience working with root cause analysis, non-conformances, and designing/testing new processes.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to quickly assess and make informed decisions on complex problems, ensuring rapid and effective closure.

  • Communication: Exceptional communication skills to effectively represent the engineering team and work collaboratively with diverse cross-functional teams.

  • Security Clearance: The ability to obtain a US Security Clearance is required.
