Summary:
The main function of an accountant is to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities within an organization.
A typical accountant is responsible for analyzing and communicating financial information for clients.
Overview:
Prepare, examine or analyze accounting records, financial statements or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems.
Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting or other tax requirements.
Prepare forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel and direct their work activities. Skills: Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking.
Ability to work independently and manage time.
Ability to apply accounting and mathematical principles to work as needed.
Ability to analyze business trends and project future revenues and expenses.
Knowledge of federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations as related to accounting.
Previous experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and any other related accounting software.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related financial discipline required.
An advanced degree in a financial discipline is preferred. 5-7 years financial and/or accounting experience required.
Ideal candidateWe are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant, Data Analyst to join our accounting team and support the implementation of our new ERP system. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing, organizing and interpreting data to ensure smooth integration between accounting processes and the ERP platform. This position plays a key role in supporting the Corporate Controllership throughout the ERP implementation.Job Duties & Responsibilities:• Assist with the validation of the data that will be migrated to the new ERP system, ensuring accuracy and completeness.• Perform data cleansing, mapping, and validation to ensure proper alignment between accounting systems and the ERP platform.• Analyze financial data related to intercompany activity between key segments to identify relationships and balances.• Offer ongoing ad hoc support of the various initiatives in preparation for the ERP implementation.• Perform accounting responsibilities as needed to help support incremental accounting activities during transition periods.• Assist with month-end closing activities as needed• Perform other related duties or special projects, as assignedRequirements:• Business experience within Accounting with increasing responsibility• Demonstrate ability to plan, multi-task and prioritize• Excellent attention to detail• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.• Strong proficiency in Excel• Previous experience with ERP system (PeopleSoft and Oracle cloud preferred)• Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.• Experience working with a global team• Strong communication skills to collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams.• Experience working with large amounts of data• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
