The HS&E Manager is responsible for leading all health, safety, and environmental initiatives at the Decatur manufacturing plant. This role ensures full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while fostering a proactive safety culture that protects people, property, and the environment. Working closely with plant leadership and corporate teams, this individual will drive continuous improvement through strategic program development, employee engagement, and strong cross-functional collaboration.
\n\nRegulatory Compliance & Reporting
\nEnsure all required environmental reports are completed accurately and submitted on time to the appropriate agencies.
\nMaintain current environmental permits and ensure ongoing compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
\nServe as primary liaison with Local, State, and Federal regulatory agencies on matters related to environmental and safety compliance.
\nInterpret and communicate regulatory requirements to site leadership and employees.
\nSafety & Environmental Programs
\nPartner with site safety professionals, corporate HS&E, and external experts to design and manage programs that enhance employee safety and compliance.
\nLead the development and execution of the HS&E Master Plan, setting measurable goals and timelines to reduce risk, ensure compliance, and control safety-related costs.
\nSupport and sustain Corporate HS&E standards, programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
\nCoordinate and report site HS&E performance metrics and compliance results.
\nManage site emergency response programs and business continuity plans.
\nEmployee Engagement & Training
\nProvide direction for developing and documenting all required HS&E training programs.
\nEncourage workforce involvement by forming and supporting employee-led safety and environmental teams.
\nFoster a culture of accountability, awareness, and shared ownership for safety performance.
\nAssist with training and qualifying site HS&E resources.
\nHealth, Security & Risk Management
\nManage employee health and workers’ compensation programs.
\nOversee plant security measures including guard procedures, security systems, surveillance, and employee access controls.
\nConduct internal and external HS&E assessments and audits to identify opportunities for improvement.
\nLeadership & Collaboration
\nPartner with plant leadership to ensure coordination across departments and alignment on HS&E initiatives.
\nParticipate in monthly HS&E leadership calls to share learnings, drive consistency, and implement best practices.
\nEnsure consistency in all personnel practices and employee relations actions within the scope of HS&E.
\nAssist with the development, implementation, and enforcement of site-specific policies and procedures.
\nMinimum Requirements
\nBachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Risk Management, or related field
\nMinimum 3 years of HS&E or related experience in a manufacturing environment
\nPrior experience leading teams or managing people
\nStrong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and regulatory reporting systems
\nPreferred Qualifications
\nBachelor’s degree in a related technical or environmental discipline
