Summary:

This role is for those of you chemical engineers out there who enjoy the creativity in process engineering. Do you like coming up with process alternatives? Are you the type of person who excels at generating solutions to difficult problems? This might be the role for you. We are working with a pre-revenue startup company that is building a gas-to-liquids (GTL) process to generate carbon negative kerosene/naphthalene. They have a team of talented process design engineers and a lot of in-house engineering talent, and they are looking to add to that team someone who is well-versed in Life Cycle Analysis (LCA). Ideally this person would come from a background in oil refining, but they are open to others backgrounds, provided the LCA expertise is there.

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering highly preferred
  • 8+ years of post-college, industry experience
  • Must have previous experience with performing Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)
  • Types of technology backgrounds that might fit this role: refining, steam methane forming (SMR), water-gas shift reactors, gas-to-liquids technologies, fischer-tropsch technology
  • Creativity is the main thing – must have a demonstrable track record of innovation and out-of-the-box thinking

Other useful information:

This person doesn’t have to be based in Houston or Austin now, but likely in the next 1-2 years, they will need to move to one or the other. Base compensation for this role is flexible based on the level of person they find – the company currently has 25 employees so this is pretty ground floor in terms of where you’re coming in.
