Our client is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their engineering team of 7 engineers with your focus on assembly. The Manufacturing Engineer will be completing projects using continuous improvement and Six Sigma to improve processes and increase production. You will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor who has risen through the ranks to this role.

What they will be doing:

  • Most of your time will be spent on projects that are meant to improve production and cut costs.
  • Important but taking less of your time will be troubleshooting equipment and manufacturing challenges in the assembly area
  • Continuously seeking improvements for efficiency and quality in the assembly process using SPC and Six Sigma methodology
  • Assist in quoting new products or product improvements
  • Evaluate tooling needs and implementation plans, and as needed design tools
  • Evaluate ECRs and MECRs as necessary
  • Develop production work center layout redesigns in CAD 
  • Perform Process Capability Studies and Collaborate with cross functional teams to develop and maintain DFM & DFA standards
  • Assist in pre-production design critique and evaluation though participation in design reviews
  • Develop PFMEA documentation

 

What they are looking for:   

  • B.S. Degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or related degree OR Associate’s degree with additional experience.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience, relevant co-op experience will count, in a manufacturing environment that assembles a product.
  • Knowledge of assembly processes including welding, sheet metal fabrication, painting and product assembly
  • Experience and training with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and troubleshoot production issues  
  • Read, analyze, interpret, and create technical documents, engineering drawings, and engineering documentation.  
  • Proficient at using Microsoft products and a 3D CAD program.  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are needed.
