Solutions Engineer (Confidential Company - Payments Industry)

Job SummaryA leading provider of payment processing solutions is seeking a Solutions Engineer to serve as a technical expert and trusted advisor for merchants and partners. This role works closely with Sales, Client Success, and Product teams to design and deliver tailored payment solutions that meet customer needs, enhance payment acceptance, and drive revenue growth.

The ideal candidate has experience in technical pre-sales, solutions engineering, or consulting within the payments industry, with a strong ability to translate complex product capabilities into value-driven solutions for large, complex merchant opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a product and technical subject matter expert (SME), supporting Account Executives and Client/Partner Success Managers in pre-sales efforts.
  • Lead technical discovery discussions to assess merchant and partner needs, designing solutions that align with their business goals.
  • Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations to merchants, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in RFI/RFP responses, providing product insights and technical expertise.
  • Collaborate with Product, Sales, and Implementation teams to ensure seamless solution deployment.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging payment technologies, and competitive landscape to enhance solution offerings.
  • Provide feedback to product and development teams based on customer needs and market trends.
  • Support post-sales teams during onboarding and implementation when necessary.
  • Conduct technical enablement training for internal teams and external partners.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in solutions engineering, technical pre-sales support, or technical consulting within the payments industry.
  • Proven ability to partner with sales teams to develop compelling payment solutions for large, complex merchants.
  • Strong ability to simplify technical concepts and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience delivering technical presentations to C-level executives.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple teams in a collaborative environment.
  • Strategic problem-solving skills with a customer-centric approach.

Preferred:

  • Experience developing payment solutions for merchants in the consumer lending space.
  • Knowledge of card brand regulations, special interchange programs, and merchant services statement analysis.
  • Familiarity with ISV and ISO partner integrations.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce.
  • Understanding of MEDDPICC or Value Selling methodologies.

  • Strong technical acumen in payment solutions and financial technology.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly.
  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and a customer-first mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools (such as Salesforce) and familiarity with industry standards and best practices.
