We are recruiting on purpose an exciting opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing Atlanta team, based at our headquarters in Dunwoody, GA. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who thrives on technical excellence, mentorship, and team leadership. You will lead structural design and analysis for a wide variety of project types—including commercial, data centers, manufacturing, distribution, historical, adaptive reuse, and renovation projects. As a technical specialist, you will guide a team of engineers and designers while maintaining high standards of quality, innovation, and collaboration. Growth opportunities include both technical specialization and leadership tracks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead structural engineering efforts from concept through construction administration.

  • Serve as a key client contact—attending meetings with architects, contractors, and owners.

  • Oversee structural documentation, design calculations, and preparation of construction documents.

  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals; conduct site observations as needed.

  • Ensure quality and coordination across disciplines; uphold Bennett & Pless design standards.

  • Perform QA/QC reviews for internal and external project deliverables.

  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineering staff, providing technical oversight and professional growth guidance.

  • Contribute to team culture and participate in company events often hosted at the Atlanta HQ.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s preferred.

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

  • 15+ years of experience in structural engineering.

  • Strong proficiency in design software including: ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, RAM, RISA, EnerCalc, Adapt, Tekla, and Microsoft Suite.

  • Working knowledge of Revit preferred.

  • Project management and client-facing experience required.

  • Expertise in steel, concrete, masonry, and other materials in low- to mid-rise structures.
