Job Summary:

Seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Weld Engineer with Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credentials. This hands-on role involves qualification testing for manual and robotic welders, reviewing quote packages, and overseeing customer audits. The position is based in Northern Lake County, IL.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct qualification testing for manual and robotic welders (cobots).
• Collaborate with the estimating department to review quote packages.
• Oversee customer audits to ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Evaluate manual welders during interviews.
• Maintain updated welding records for each employee, documenting capabilities.
• Revamp and implement a robotic training program for individuals with no prior experience.
• Respond to internal and external inquiries in a timely and organized manner.

Qualifications:

• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
• Hands-on experience with manual and robotic welding processes.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience in training and evaluating welders.

Salary:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Reports To:

Engineering Manager

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) certification with AWS.

Work Experience:

• Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in welding, including manual and robotic processes.
• Experience in qualification testing and customer audit oversight.
• Proven track record in training and assessing welders.
• Experience maintaining welding records and collaborating with estimating departments.
