Position Overview:

The Electrical Project Coordinator provides vital support to the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and managing electrical construction activities for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This includes installation, maintenance, and upgrades of electrical systems, instrumentation, and controls within treatment plants, pumping stations, and other facilities. The role blends technical knowledge with project management and cost estimation skills to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Support and Coordination:

  • Assist in preparing technical reports, compliance documents, and project updates.

  • Ensure all electrical systems meet applicable codes, technical specifications, and safety standards.

  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to support efficient project execution.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including drawings and records of electrical work.

  • Monitor project milestones, timelines, and resource needs.

  • Liaise with stakeholders including engineers, contractors, vendors, and regulatory agencies.

Estimating and Cost Control:

  • Prepare cost estimates based on project scope, specifications, and drawings.

  • Analyze costs for materials, labor, and equipment for each project phase.

  • Collaborate with project teams and subcontractors to refine estimates and budgets.

  • Track expenditures and support adherence to project budgets and timelines.

  • Identify and address potential cost overruns; suggest value-engineering solutions.

  • Support evaluation of cost-saving opportunities during project delivery.

Health, Safety, and Compliance:

  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with EHS regulations during all phases of electrical work.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.

  • Project management certifications are a plus.

Experience:

  • 3–8 years in electrical construction, preferably in water/wastewater, utility, or industrial settings.

  • Experience with cost estimating and budgeting is beneficial.

Skills:

  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and applicable codes and standards.

  • Familiarity with electrical systems, controls, and instrumentation.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with CAD, project management, or estimating software is a plus.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Work Environment:

  • Combination of office and fieldwork, including visits to active job sites.

  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in outdoor conditions.

  • Frequent travel required, including to remote locations.

  • Flexibility for extended hours during critical project phases or emergencies.
