Powder Coating Technician (Industrial Finishing)
The Powder Coating Technician is responsible for executing all powder coating and painting-related processes to ensure parts are produced on time and meet the highest quality standards. This role plays a key part in delivering zero-defect parts through proper preparation, coating, inspection, and handling in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities

Load parts onto the conveyor system and ensure proper preparation for powder coating, including taping, plugging, bonding, and masking as required.

Verify all parts are clean, dry, and properly prepared before entering the powder coat spray booth.

Unload coated parts from the conveyor line and perform 100% quality inspections to ensure finish, coverage, and adherence to specifications.

Handle and transport parts in a manner that prevents damage or defects, ensuring accurate documentation and paperwork.

Follow established rework procedures when addressing defective parts from internal production or customer returns.

Operate shop tools and equipment safely and effectively, including forklifts, drill presses, power drills, air tools, hand grinders, orbital tools, and pressure washers.

Deburr, grind, and clean sheet metal components requiring touch-up or rework.

Make necessary adjustments to cleaning and wash line solutions to maintain process effectiveness.

Assist with paint and powder color changeovers at spray booths as needed.

Perform routine equipment and process checks in accordance with standard operating procedures in the powder coat area.

Read and interpret blueprints and written work instructions, including metric measurements.

Support 5S initiatives and preventive maintenance activities to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.

Collaborate with Shop Floor Management to support continuous improvement and process optimization efforts.
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, and lift up to 70 lbs.

Comfortable working in a manufacturing and production environment.
Experience & Education

Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred; powder coating experience is strongly preferred.

Knowledge of metal preparation and powder coating processes is highly desirable.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced production setting with attention to detail and quality.

Familiarity with MS Office, quality systems, and lean manufacturing principles is a plus.

Two-year technical degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
