The Opportunity
Our Client is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to lead and evolve its tax function in a complex, growth-oriented environment. This is a highly visible role with responsibility for partnership taxation, including an Up-C structure, income tax provisions under ASC 740, and oversight of income and non-income tax compliance.
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, third-party advisors, and cross-functional teams to drive tax strategy, manage audits, and strengthen internal tax processes for a publicly traded organization.
The role is hybrid and based in Morgantown, West Virginia, with three days per week in the office.
Key Responsibilities
As Senior Tax Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance, managing risk, and providing strategic tax leadership. Responsibilities include:

Lead and strategically manage all aspects of Up-C partnership taxation and tax accounting, in coordination with third-party advisors.

Evaluate the ongoing use of external tax partners versus developing internal tax capabilities.

Direct the preparation and review of the income tax provision under ASC 740, including related disclosures for SEC filings.

Establish and maintain strong documentation, controls, and record-keeping standards for all income and non-income tax filings and tax positions.

Serve as the primary point of contact for federal, state, and local tax audits, inquiries, and notices.

Monitor and assess changes in tax laws and regulations impacting partnership and corporate taxation, ensuring timely implementation and compliance.

Develop, implement, and refine processes to identify, monitor, and mitigate tax compliance and reporting risks.

Collaborate closely with finance, legal, and operational teams to ensure accurate tax treatment of transactions, restructurings, and strategic initiatives.

Build, mentor, and lead tax talent while strengthening tax governance across the organization.
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

5+ years of progressive tax experience, ideally within public accounting and/or a corporate environment.

CPA or equivalent required.

Oil and gas industry experience required.

Deep knowledge of partnership taxation, including Up-C structures, partnership formation, and structural modifications.

Hands-on experience leading ASC 740 income tax provisions for a complex organization.

Experience managing and developing tax professionals or external advisory teams.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
