Job Title: Director of Plant Engineering
Location: Raleigh, North Carolina
Salary: $185K – $225K + Bonus

Position Overview:
We’re seeking a dynamic Director of Plant Engineering to lead and optimize engineering and maintenance operations at our fast-paced manufacturing facility. In this role, you’ll leverage data-driven insights to streamline production processes, reduce waste, and drive cost efficiencies. As a strategic leader, you’ll oversee capital projects, implement advanced maintenance systems, and inspire a high-performing team to achieve operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capital Project Leadership:
    Oversee capital projects from concept to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety, food safety, and environmental standards.

  • Maintenance Strategy Development:
    Design and execute advanced maintenance strategies, including Preventive Maintenance (PM), Predictive Maintenance (PdM), and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), to maximize equipment reliability and operational efficiency.

  • Operational Excellence:
    Minimize downtime, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement long-term solutions to ensure seamless production and equipment performance.

  • Team Leadership:
    Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing maintenance and engineering team. Foster a culture of safety, collaboration, and recognition while building a diverse and empowered workforce.

  • Continuous Improvement:
    Establish and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure success in areas such as equipment reliability, supplier performance, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Use insights to drive ongoing improvements.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Partner with cross-functional teams to tackle challenges, implement strategic initiatives, and enhance plant capabilities.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education:
    Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.

  • Experience:

    • 10+ years of engineering management experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role involving team development and management.
    • Proven expertise in mechanical and electrical systems, including PLCs, instrumentation, and mechanical engineering, within a large manufacturing environment.
    • Multi-million-dollar capital expenditure (CapEx) management experience.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and SAP.
    • Strong background in ammonia refrigeration systems.
    • In-depth knowledge of maintenance systems, work order processes, PM, PdM, and TPM.
  • Soft Skills:

    • Exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with the capacity to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
    • Excellent organizational, teamwork, and leadership skills.
  • Industry Knowledge:

    • Experience in food manufacturing is required, with a preference for knowledge of pork products and the meat industry.
  • Work Environment:

    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Flexibility to work long hours and weekends as needed.
