We are seeking experienced Superintendents to join our Heavy Civil Roadway Division. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing, directing, and managing field operations in close coordination with the Project Manager or General Superintendent. This position plays a key leadership role in ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and within budget.
\n\nReview and understand project plans, specifications, and special provisions before work begins.
\nAnalyze project estimates and perform quantity take-offs to identify discrepancies before mobilization.
\nCollaborate with the Estimator and Project Manager to validate scope, schedule, and resources.
\nAssist in developing and maintaining the project schedule, ensuring timely coordination of crews, subcontractors, and materials.
\nManage daily field operations, including pipe, concrete, paving, and grading crews.
\nEnsure all required submittals (shop drawings, mix designs, material approvals, traffic control layouts) are received and approved on time.
\nCoordinate all subcontractors, suppliers, and deliveries, considering lead times and logistical challenges.
\nIdentify and document changed conditions, discrepancies, and potential change orders, providing all necessary backup documentation (drawings, photos, reports).
\nMaintain accurate Blue Stake records and resolve any utility conflicts promptly.
\nArrange for yard locations, dump sites, and permits as required.
\nReview and discuss weekly cost reports with the Project Manager to identify variances or issues.
\nOversee field safety, ensuring compliance with all company and regulatory safety standards.
\nMaintain site cleanliness and ensure safe working and traffic conditions at all times.
\nKeep daily logs of progress, issues, and project events, and maintain accurate as-built plans.
\nConduct weekly safety meetings and enforce all safety policies on-site.
\nPrepare monthly pay estimates, final quantities, and closeout documentation.
\nSupervise and evaluate foremen, crews, and subcontractors to ensure quality and productivity.
\nHandle workforce management, including hiring, termination, and layoff decisions.
\nParticipate in post-project reviews with the Project Manager to evaluate performance and outcomes.
\nComprehensive knowledge of heavy civil construction methods, materials, and equipment.
\nStrong understanding of roadway, highway, and underground utility construction.
\nFamiliarity with engineering principles, cost control, scheduling, and safety compliance.
\nAbility to read and interpret technical plans, blueprints, and specifications.
\nProven ability to lead and motivate field crews and coordinate multi-discipline operations.
\nExcellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
\nClean Driver’s License required.
\nBilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
\nBachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering preferred.
\n8+ years of construction management and/or field supervision experience.
\nEquivalent combinations of education and field experience will be considered.
