My client is seeking a highly skilled Materials & Corrosion Engineer to provide expert technical oversight and engineering support for production and operations units. This role involves working closely with a team of engineers and inspectors to ensure the integrity and reliability of fixed equipment and piping systems.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineering and inspection teams to assure the integrity of pressure equipment and piping.
  • Develop and approve inspection strategies, including cathodic protection and corrosion control measures, while ensuring compliance with Process Safety Management standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of corrosion control programs, ensuring they adhere to regulatory requirements and are suitable for current and changing operating conditions.
  • Lead the corrosion management program, providing technical assurance and oversight during both routine operations and changes.
  • Review and approve welding procedures, including specifications for filler metals, heat treatment, and welding qualifications.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with material specifications, handling, and welder qualifications, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Participate in Fitness for Service assessments for pressure equipment and piping systems.
  • Engage in best practice networks to enhance organizational knowledge and practices.
  • Generate material selection reports for capital projects and make informed decisions on coatings and nonmetallic materials.
  • Support overall Pressure Equipment Integrity initiatives and promote understanding of equipment integrity roles across the organization.
 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering or a related field.
  • 4 to 10 years of experience in Materials Engineering.
  • Possession of a valid TWIC card or eligibility to obtain one. More information is available at the TSA website.
