Purchasing Agent - Fort Worth, TX 76104

This position is responsible for the acquisition and maintenance of a raw material inventory consisting of various types of metals utilized in the forging of components used in military products (aviation, land based, and weaponry). The position requires experience in a manufacturing “job shop” and a solid working knowledge of AS9100 quality assurance requirements and documentation.

  • Responsibilities & Duties:
    • Coordinate with the Planner and Production Manager to identify raw material requirements.
    • Manage raw material inventory levels by issuing raw materials to jobs and ordering raw material as necessary.
    • Participate in management of periodic inventory cycle counts and the annual year-end inventory count.
    • Obtain quotes, negotiate terms and agreements with vendors.
    • Manage the purchase order and receiving processes.
      • This involves creating & placing purchase orders and ensuring timely and accurate receiving of raw material.
      • Proactively address any issues or delays in obtaining raw material to meet the production plan.
    • Responsible for ensuring all raw material certificates of compliance are accurate and complete.
    • Maintain Purchasing records and participate in proper AS9100 documentation of finished goods.
    • Ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Production Manager.
 
  • Required Qualifications:
    • Must be a United States person.
    • Associate’s degree or trade school certification is required.
    • High school diploma or GED certificate will be acceptable with verifiable 1 – 3 years of purchasing experience working in a manufacturing environment.
    • 1 – 3 years of experience in manufacturing operations.
      • Experience in the aerospace industry is desired but not required.
    • Practical experience working with Quality Management Systems. AS9100 preferred.
    • Familiarity with written policies & procedures, and quality controls.
    • Ability to understand and communicate technical specifications to employees and customers.
    • Solid experience with Microsoft and ERP applications (must have strong typing skills).
