Due to a retirement, a successful manufacturer that has recently expanded is seeking their next Purchasing Supervisor to oversee procurement activities for the site. As the Purchasing Supervisor you will report to the Corporate Head of Procurement and will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Coaching, motivating and developing your procurement team
- Evaluating, implementing and documenting procurement functions for the site
- Handling daily purchasing functions, including managing contracts, creating purchase orders, monitoring the budget, etc.
- Overseeing contract management
- Supporting the procurement team with sourcing and negotiating, including being hands on in the procurement process
- Procuring a portfolio of commodities, including managing an annual budget of 10M annually
- Monitoring and improving department KPIs and metrics
- Evaluating and selecting suppliers
- Finding and implementing continuous improvement efforts within the department
- Supporting audits as needed
- Attending and leading meetings
- Ensuring compliance
- Providing a collaborative partnership with site operations and corporate procurement
- Other duties as directed by management
This is a hands-on position that requires qualified candidates to be involved with tactical and strategic objectives. You will lead, mentor and coach one individual to meet the goals of the department and support the manufacturing site. Qualified individuals will have the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, work under pressure and have a strong ability to solve problems and improve processes. Successful candidates will be flexible with work requirements, have excellent presentation skills, be able to hold others accountable, have a passion for procurement and enjoy working with others at all levels.

REQUIREMENTS for the Purchasing Supervisor:1. A high school diploma is required; post-secondary education is highly preferred2. Minimum of 2-5 years in a similar lead manufacturing purchasing position
3. Experience overseeing others
4. Experience sourcing new suppliers and strong negotiation skills 5. Experience with contract management
6. Experience working with an ERP system 7. Microsoft Office, including strong MS Excel skills Skills preferred but NOT required:1. Chemical manufacturing experience 2. International business experience 3. CapEx procurement experience
