Client is a smaller to mid-size chemical manufacturing firm which is experiencing significant growth and expansion.
 
Summary:
 
The Senior Accountant supports financial leadership by researching and analyzing accounting data, preparing reports, and performing essential accounting functions to ensure accurate and timely financial operations.
 
Responsibilities:
 
• Maintain fixed asset records, preparing asset and capital account entries through detailed account analysis.
• Serve as a backup for accounts payable duties, including training related personnel.
• Prepare and post journal entries generated by department staff.
• Assist with month-end closing processes.
• Conduct internal compliance audits for purchasing and accounts payable, providing documented evidence of compliance or discrepancies.
• Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts with thorough analysis and clear documentation.
• Generate specialized financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account data.
• Uphold financial security by adhering to internal controls and proposing policy or procedure updates as needed.
• Support annual audits by providing substantiated financial transaction documentation.
• Stay current with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and technical knowledge.
• Meet all processing and reporting deadlines consistently.
• Safeguard confidential and proprietary information against unauthorized disclosure.
• Contribute to team objectives through collaborative efforts.
• Perform additional duties as assigned and act as a backup to the Accounting Supervisor in the absence of senior leadership.
 
Qualifications:
 
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
• 3-7 years of accounting experience required; auditing experience preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles with practical application experience.
• Exceptional mathematical, organizational, and time management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet tight deadlines, and maintain a robust control environment.
• Effective interpersonal skills for working with diverse teams.
