Per Deb: Position is fully REMOTE. Courts in CA are still not fully opened. Much is virtual. Since pandemic most cases do not go to court but the attorney must work up cases in case it does go to court. May a few a year. Cases are in Northern CA including Bay area and Silicon Valley. Reports to a Manager in San Jose. Law office of Scott Stratman. Position is a replacement. 

Position is 100% defense work. Personal and commercial (no WC) auto, property, homeowners liability, general liability. No billable hours, no rainmaking, no micromanaging. Just get the job done in a timely and efficient manner

knowledge of tenant law+ mainly BI cases. High Volume Case load 70-80 files at a time, 3-7 new cases per month. Handle files to trial.
 
  • salary is unlikely to be out of posted range - please do not submit someone who would not accept a base salary within the posted range. Salary for Central CA (Sacramento, Fresno) $101,360-$147,000
  • ideally looking for someone with insurance defense civil trial experience, landlord-tenant experience is a plus
  • full benefits including up to 15% annual bonus, 401k 6% match (vested immediately) and 4%automatic company contribution (vested in 3 years), PTO, Paid Parental Leave, car stipend $7800 paid monthly, remote stipend $50/month for use of internet. Must start by end of September to get prorated bonus for 2023.

Job Summary

Responsible for the competent, ethical, and diligent representation of clients in all cases assigned by supervisor. Cases can involve all areas of tort practice. Responsible for handling matters of moderate to great complexity and/or exposure, and may assist in the handling of cases assigned to other attorneys.

Essential Job Functions

  • Handles cases with unique legal or procedural issues involving moderate to severe injuries and/or damages, including preparation of pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs, attendance at hearings, conferences, interviews, trials or arbitrations, and performance of any other tasks or duties necessary for the proper representation of clients.
  • May also assist other attorneys in such cases as assigned.
  • Functionally supervises attorneys who have been requested to assist the Trial Attorney in the handling of particular cases.
  • Consults with and renders opinions to members of the Claims Departments regarding insurance policy questions and questions concerning the legal aspects of the handling of personal injury claims.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of the work being done for clients and of any and all problems encountered.
  • Maintains and updates computerized litigation support systems for assigned caseloads.
  • Performs other functions as assigned.
 

 

High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree required. Law school degree, and member in good standing of the State Bar in the state in which position is located.

Experience Requirements

At least five years as an Attorney including civil jury trial 1st of solo chairexperience or equivalent dispositive ADR experience or comparable outside experience. Must be capable of handling cases of moderate to great exposure and/or complexity with minimum supervision.

Special Skill Requirement

Public speaking, ability to function and handle high case loads in adversarial or confrontational situations, driving.
