Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a dynamic team in the development and execution of custom HVAC solutions. This role is critical in establishing engineering process discipline, enhancing team capabilities, and ensuring the seamless execution of projects from inception through production release.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Development: Guide and mentor a team of 5-8 Project Engineers, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Conduct performance evaluations and identify growth opportunities.
  • Engineering Process Management: Develop and enforce standardized engineering processes, ensuring accuracy and repeatability across all stages of project execution.
  • Process Improvement: Implement Design-for-Manufacturability (DFMA) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) practices to enhance project throughput and quality.
  • Resource Allocation: Manage project schedules and resource distribution to meet production timelines and customer expectations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, controls, and supply chain teams to minimize rework and optimize efficiency.
  • Metrics and Continuous Improvement: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive process improvements and address bottlenecks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in custom engineering, with a focus on capital equipment; HVAC experience is highly desirable.
  • At least 2 years of direct leadership experience, including conducting performance reviews and managing team workload.
  • Proven ability to implement and standardize engineering processes in a custom manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions.

Work Environment and Compensation

This position is based in Minneapolis, with flexibility for occasional remote work. Regular visits to production facilities and industry events are expected. The salary range is $125,000 – $150,000, with eligibility for an annual performance-based bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
