Quality Manager Opportunity

Take full ownership of the quality program for a stable, long-standing metal manufacturing job shop. This is a critical, direct-hire role offering an excellent combination of professional responsibility and work-life balance.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will lead a dedicated team in quality operations for a 25-person, union facility, ensuring the delivery of high-precision metal components for various sectors, including medical, automotive, and industrial, supporting our commitment to excellence in producing precision-based, complex metal parts.

Products include complex, precision metal parts, including those requiring multi-stage and deep-drawn processes. The facility maintains in-house capabilities for specialized finishing, plating, and coating operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain the entire ISO 9001-2015 Quality Management System (QMS), including documentation, internal auditing, and successful preparation for external certification audits.

  • Manage, mentor, and lead a small, dedicated team of Quality Inspectors/Technicians in a union shop.

  • Perform hands-on quality inspection tasks utilizing precision gauges, including micrometers, veneers, and comparators.

  • Prepare and manage quality documentation, such as PPAPs, FAI reports, and SPC reports.

  • Investigate, analyze, and implement corrective actions to effectively resolve customer quality complaints (CARs/SCARs).

  • Ensure all products meet strict client specifications, specializing in deep-drawn metal stamping.

  • Maintain a strong working relationship with employees in the unionized shop environment.

Required Experience

  • 5 years of experience in a Quality Control or Quality Assurance management/leadership role.

  • Total competence in ISO 9001-2015 QMS management 

  • Demonstrated experience managing or supervising a team in a manufacturing environment.

  • Hands-on experience with dimensional inspection tools and preparing formal quality documentation (PPAPs, FAI).

  • Experience in the metals industry (stamping, fabrication, machining, or deep-drawing) preferred.

  • Experience working in a unionized facility is a plus.
