We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead all payroll administration operations for a rapidly growing privately held American construction and environmental services contractor located in Central Georgia. This role will lead a team of payroll professionals responsible for accurate and timely payroll processing of both union and non-union personnel, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, and automating process improvements related to payroll and benefit payments.

 

 Essential Job Functions:

  • Manage the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness for multi-site operations located throughout the US.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of payroll and accounting specialists, fostering professional growth and career advancement.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax laws, and oversee the implementation of internal controls to mitigate risks.
  • Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures that align with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance to reconcile payroll data and ensure alignment with financial records.
  • Manage payroll system upgrades and implementations, ensuring smooth transitions with minimal disruption.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports, summaries, and analyses for senior management.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end payroll activities, including the preparation and distribution of W-2s and benefit payments.
  • Address and resolve complex payroll inquiries and discrepancies promptly.
  • Analyze payroll metrics to identify trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with HR to effectively manage all HRIS software to ensure timely payment of employee benefits, Workmen’s Compensation claims, pensions, garnishments, 401(k), etc.
  • Coordinate with HR, Finance, and external auditors during payroll audits, providing necessary documentation and support.

 

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 10+ years in Payroll Processing and Administration, preferably in a high-volume, multi-site environment.
  • 3+ years in a Managerial or Supervisory role.
  • High proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Workday, Workforce Manager, Paylocity) and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP for accounting interface is highly preferred.
  • Expertise with payroll regulations, tax laws in different states, and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of union and non-union payroll processes, including prevailing wage requirements.
  • Proven leadership experience with a focus on team development and mentorship.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience managing payroll during mergers, acquisitions, or system transitions is a plus.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation includes an attractive base salary commensurate with experience, annual bonus incentives, comprehensive benefits package, matching 401(k), and paid vacation. Paid relocation to Central Georgia is available, if needed. Our client is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
