Our client is a well established manufacturer of machinery, based in Tecumseh MI. They have an immediate need for a Quality Engineer.

 

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that  products and services meet the established standards of quality including reliability, usability, and performance.Effectively disseminate customer requirements and generate controls to meet those requirements. Works with engineers, supervisors, managers, production personnel, suppliers and customers to help resolve quality issues, achieve team objectives, and promote quality principles.The Quality Engineer will drive continuous improvement and optimization of all manufacturing processes to meet short and long-range plans using the most economical and productive methods. Implement changes and improvements that will maximize safety, quality, and productivity.The Quality Engineer is to implement effective quality controls, teach production staff how to use them and supervise outcomes. The Quality Engineer will design automated testing systems and quality control workflows to improve the efficiency of the quality assurance process. TheQuality Engineer will collect data about instances of product errors and investigate possible solutions by troubleshooting the manufacturing or design process, implement and drive quality initiatives through lean methodologies focused on increased throughput and minimizing system waste.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

·         Manage and maintain the company’s quality inspection and product release programs for incoming and in-process materials and components, processes, and finished goods.

·         Perform visual and/or cosmetic inspection of product following applicable procedure(s) using appropriate light sources. Monitor equipment to ensure proper operation and escalate any equipment-related issues.

·         Ensure timely completion/closure of Quality records.

·         Uses quality tools to implement improvements including: process flowcharting, Pareto analysis, correlation and regression analysis, significance tests, design of experiments, statistical process control, gauge repeatability and reproducibility, and trend analysis techniques.

·         Acts as a customer liaison and processes customer quality complaints, as applicable.

·         Collects, Analyzes, and Presents data using statistical methodology.

·         Assists suppliers with the interpretation of quality requirements, as applicable.

·         Interfaces with appropriate customer contacts to clarify customer requirements.

·         Develops inspection criteria that connect customer requirements and manufacturing processes that include identification of key characteristics, associated sampling plans, and required gauging.

·         Monitors engineering production processes and products for adherence to internal and external requirements and practices.

·         Participates in pre- and post-production launch reviews providing Quality Engineering support.

·         Performs quality reviews and internal audits; evaluates data and writes associated reports.

·         Recommends modifications to existing quality or production standards, where applicable, to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.

·         Reviews and approves product/process and document change requests.

·         Reviews drawings to evaluate quality requirements including: correct application of geometric dimensioning and tolerance, proper use of process and material specifications, and key characteristics for inspection plans and gauging techniques.

·         Supports measuring and analyzing key metrics to monitor performance.

·         Works with cross-functional teams to solve production and quality problems.

·         Reinforces safety expectations. Ensures safety operating practices are demonstrated. Reports issues/concerns to Supervisor.

·         Support quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS).

·         Is a designated member of the Complaint Handling Unit.

·         Maintain compliance of the QMS. Manage and maintain all controlled document files and test records in a timely and accurate manner per ISO 9001 requirements.

·         Other duties as assigned by Quality Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

·         Bachelor of Science (B.S) (Required)

·         Any Quality Certification (Preferred)

·         Minimum 3 years’ experience with ISO 9001, Quality Management Systems (QMS).

·         Trained and/or 2 years plus years’ experience leading and/or involved with Continuous Improvement & Kaizen projects.

·         Trained with 3 plus years experienced with AIAG core tools.

·         Experience working with suppliers. supplier scorecards, evals, supplier audits.

·         Internal and or external audit experience.

·         Read and understand blueprints and along with CAD inspection reports.

·         Microsoft Office – Strong Excel, PowerPoint, Word skills

·         Experience with ERP systems (i.e.: Epicor, E2, Plex, etc.)

·         Ability to work independently or in a group setting.

·         Must be able to distinguish and detect information such as writing and defects - Frequently

·         Self-Driven.

·         Organized.

·         Use of safe practices PPE in production environment

·         Able to communicate clearly and professionally.

·         Experience with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) – A PLUS

·         Knowledge of tooling & molding – A PLUS

·         Experience & knowledge of GD&T – A PLUS

·         Experience running a CMM – A PLUS

·         Knowledge & experience with SolidWorks – A PLUS
