Our client, a leading manufacturer and installer of custom millwork and retail fixtures, is seeking an experienced Plant Manager to oversee day-to-day operations at their 30,000 sq. ft. facility in Hazelwood, MO. This role requires a hands-on leader with a deep understanding of millwork production and the ability to manage workflow, optimize production timelines, and lead a team of 20+ cabinetmakers and fabrication staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage daily plant operations, including cabinetmakers, fabricators, and support staff
Schedule and coordinate production workflow to ensure all jobs are completed on time and meet quality standards
Collaborate with Project Managers to understand client deliverables, production requirements, and timelines
Lead and supervise all aspects of millwork fabrication, including CNC routing, beam sawing machining, and assembly
Manage materials, prioritize jobs, and adjust staffing and equipment use as needed to maintain efficiency
Track and reduce errors and rework through quality control oversight and continuous process improvement
Coordinate trucking and outbound logistics for finished product deliveries
Maintain safety standards and foster a culture of accountability and teamwork
Monitor equipment usage, oversee routine maintenance, and support operational readiness
Provide leadership and coaching to a team of 15–50, depending on workload
Requirements:
Prior experience managing a woodshop or millwork production facility (5+ years preferred)
Strong knowledge of woodworking equipment and processes, including CNC machines
Proven track record of managing teams in a fast-paced custom production environment
Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and client specs
Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor team members
Prior hands-on experience working in a shop is a plus
Comfortable coordinating with multiple departments and adapting to shifting priorities
