PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY - LITIGATION ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY (ARCHITECTS & ENGINEERS CLAIMS)

Location: Chicago, IL

 

Our client, a prestigious law firm recognized in the 2024 edition of Best Law Firms®, is seeking a highly-motivated Professional Liability Associate Attorney to join their team in Chicago

 

Candidate Profile:

  • JD from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record.

  • Active Bar Admission in Illinois.

  • 2+ years of substantive litigation experience defending professional liability claims involving Architects & Engineers and construction defects.

  • Insurance defense experience is advantageous.

  • Familiarity with second-chairing trials, depositions and/or evidentiary hearings.

  • Strong research, writing, and advocacy skills, with the ability to draft persuasive and clear pleadings, motions, briefs, mediation statements, orders and settlement agreements.

  • Experience conducting large-scale document reviews and productions.

  • Comfortable communicating with opposing counsel and working directly with clients.

  • Highly motivated, with the initiative to take on significant case responsibility.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Defend architects and engineers in professional liability claims and construction defects.

  • Manage multiple professional liability matters simultaneously under tight deadlines.

  • Draft and argue motions, attend depositions, and participate in trial preparation.

  • Work directly with clients, communicate with opposing counsel, and collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy.

  • Manage discovery, including document production and review.

  • Conduct large-scale document reviews and productions.
  • Build relationships with the firm's existing clients and develop new client relationships and business.
