Quality Assurance Supervisor

Position Summary:The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for managing quality systems in the day-to-day plant setting, generating and implementing quality and food safety initiatives, and overseeing quality technicians in the Harvest/Fabrication Department. Key responsibilities include communicating directives, ensuring compliance with policies and programs, identifying quality opportunities, implementing corrective actions, and conducting follow-ups.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote a safe working environment in compliance with safety policies, regulations, and laws.
  • Schedule and verify the performance of Quality Technicians and other support for Harvest/Fabrication as needed.
  • Ensure conformance to quality specifications and expectations for all products and processes, following up with management on exceptions and corrective actions.
  • Communicate quality programs and specifications to the quality team.
  • Manage the disposition of held goods (raw, finished, and in-process), including communication and execution of sampling plans.
  • Execute HACCP programs.
  • Collaborate with sensory teams to ensure program alignment with expectations.
  • Develop and train quality team members and hourly personnel in quality awareness, food safety, and related areas.
  • Monitor the effectiveness and conformance of BRC programs.
  • Work with customers on quality initiatives for products, programs, and processes as directed.
  • Collaborate with upper-level management on new product and product improvement initiatives, including coordinating sample collection and data shipment.
  • Review raw material quality information for conformance to standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science or a related field and at least 1 year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • HACCP Certification preferred but not required.
  • Strong written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must be 18 years of age and authorized to work in the US.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in cold or hot environments.

Work Environment:

  • Occasional office work.
