PSM Coordinator

Job PurposeOversee and maintain the facility's Process Safety Management (PSM) program to ensure compliance with corporate Ammonia Refrigeration Management standards.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Manage the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Coordinate and ensure timely completion of all Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs).
  • Maintain audit readiness for the PSM program.
  • Conduct and document monthly PSM team meetings, including tracking all meeting minutes.
  • Document follow-up tracking for PHA recommendations until closure.
  • Track and document follow-up on all Compliance Audit "Exceptions" and "Corrective Actions."
  • Organize and coordinate quarterly updates with the Plant Engineer and impacted employees on PHA, Compliance Audit, and Mechanical Integrity Inspection open items.
  • Support facility safety by managing the Hot Work Program and Emergency Action Plan.
  • Create, maintain, and update preventative maintenance procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for ammonia equipment.
  • Ensure annual certification of operating procedures for accuracy and relevancy.
  • Provide leadership in PSM across all shifts, aligning with corporate ammonia initiatives.
  • Coordinate training for Refrigeration Operators, documenting completion.
  • Revise the PSM program per updates from the Corporate PSM Team.
  • Ensure MOC, Line Break, and PHA procedures are adhered to in all ammonia projects.
  • Implement ammonia best practices plant-wide to drive continuous improvement.
  • Participate in monthly Corporate PSM Coordinator conference calls and the annual Ammonia Safety & Best Practices Workshop.
  • Maintain alignment with the Corporate PSM Team and industry standards, particularly IIAR standards for Ammonia Refrigeration.
  • Establish IIAR Associate Membership for access to codes and standards upon role placement.

Experience & Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • AutoCAD experience is beneficial.
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • Preferred: Minimum two years of experience with ammonia refrigeration systems and PSM requirements.
  • Working knowledge of refrigeration, maintenance systems, equipment installation, and plant utilities.
  • Experience collaborating with vendors and contractors.
  • Familiarity with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills with attention to detail and self-motivation.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Manufacturing plant environment with heavy machinery.
  • Primarily 1st shift hours, with occasional overtime and weekend work. Flexibility options available.

Physical RequirementsPhysical demands may include:

  • Occasional: standing, sitting, bending, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, accessing various heights and low areas, keyboarding, balancing, fine motor skills, and repetitive motions.
  • Heavy lifting: 50–100 lbs occasionally; 50+ lbs frequently; and 10–20 lbs constantly.
