Our client, a prestigious AmLaw 50 law firm, is seeking a highly-skilled Energy Regulatory Attorney to join its Energy Practice Group as a counsel-level attorney. This is an exciting opportunity to advise clients on a wide range of federal and state energy regulatory matters, with a focus on renewable energy sectors such as solar, wind, storage, and emerging energy transition technologies, including hydrogen, carbon, electric vehicles, and microgrids.

 

Candidate Profile:

  • JD from an ABA-approved law school with a strong academic record.
  • Active Bar Admission in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • 8+ years of substantive experience advising clients on federal and state energy regulatory matters, particularly in renewable energy and energy transition sectors.
  • Experience with oil & gas regulatory matters is a plus.
  • Strong background representing and advising developers, sponsors, lenders, cash equity, tax equity, and other investors on regulatory aspects of complex development and financing transactions.
  • Experience negotiating and reviewing power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, shared facility agreements, and other key project documents.
  • Familiarity with equity and debt financing structures, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory compliance issues.
  • Strong client relationship management, project oversight, and senior review capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, a team-oriented approach, and a strong work ethic.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on federal and state energy regulatory issues affecting renewable energy and energy transition projects.
  • Provide counsel on project development, financing, and acquisition transactions, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Negotiate and draft key project documents, including power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, and shared facility agreements.
  • Support clients in navigating regulatory approval processes and compliance matters.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions for complex energy projects.

California Applicants: Pursuant to the CA Pay Transparency for Pay Equity Act, the expected salary range for this position is between $350,000 - $475,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
