Location

On-site, full-time in the field across Chicagoland (you’ll start your day at the jobsite and work closely with the project team).

Note: This role is a fit for either:

  • recent U.S. bachelor’s grad in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or
  • Someone with 1+ year of heavy civil/heavy highway construction experience

Please do not submit candidates who:

  • Have a master’s degree in civil engineering, or
  • Did not complete their undergraduate degree in the U.S.

Job Description

  • Support heavy highway projects as a Field Engineer (bridges/roadways/IDOT-style work)
  • Work daily with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and crews
  • Coordinate material deliveries and ensure proper certifications per contract requirements
  • Maintain daily field documentation (reports, schedules, photos, tracking)
  • Monitor subcontractor progress and support schedule execution
  • Help manage and balance concrete deliveries and pours
  • Assist with closeout tasks, quantities, and job cost reporting
  • Work outdoors year-round; occasional second shift during phase changes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management from a U.S. university
  • 0–5 years of experience (field/engineering internships/co-ops count for entry level)
  • Exposure to heavy highway / heavy civil construction is strongly preferred
  • OSHA 10 or 30 preferred
  • Comfortable working on active jobsites and collaborating with field crews
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Bluebeam familiarity is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally to job sites
