About Our Client

Our client is a mid sized, growth oriented CPA firm that has been advising closely held businesses, nonprofits, governments and individuals for over 40 years. They provide full service tax, audit, accounting and advisory support to clients across the United States and on multiple continents. The firm is known for practical, “outside the box, within the rules” solutions and long term client relationships rather than one size fits all answers.

Job Description

  • Manage the end to end process for corporate, partnership, individual and other tax returns prepared by staff, focusing on review and client communication rather than preparation.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for an assigned book of clients, handling day to day questions, proactive outreach and delivery of year round tax planning.
  • Supervise and mentor tax staff and seniors, providing clear review notes, coaching and technical guidance to help them grow.
  • Coordinate workflow, budgets and deadlines to ensure timely and efficient completion of tax engagements across busy season and off season.
  • Identify tax planning opportunities, savings strategies and entity structure ideas and communicate them clearly to clients and firm leadership.
  • Perform and review tax research on complex issues and ensure proper documentation and support for positions taken.
  • Participate in business development activities such as onboarding new clients, cross selling firm services and supporting proposals and presentations.
  • Take on departmental and firm management responsibilities as assigned, focusing on improving processes, utilization and overall effectiveness of the tax services group.

Qualifications

  • Active CPA license required.
  • 5+ years of recent public accounting tax experience with a CPA firm, including significant review responsibility.
  • Strong technical knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury regulations and relevant state and local tax rules.
  • Prior experience supervising and mentoring tax staff and seniors.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engagements, priorities and deadlines in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent client facing communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts in a clear and friendly way.
  • Comfortable working on site full time in Buckhannon, WV and collaborating closely with both local and remote team members.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Collaborative, team oriented culture where partners are accessible and invested in your success.
  • Opportunity to make a visible impact with middle market clients, entrepreneurs and nonprofits rather than being “just another manager” in a huge firm.
  • Strong emphasis on professional development, technical training and leadership growth.
  • Reasonable travel and a consistent on site schedule that supports work life balance.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits in a low cost of living market.
