Location This is an on-site role based in the Chicago area, offering the chance to work closely with operations, field teams, and leadership on active civil construction opportunities.

Note: Must have direct estimating experience in civil construction, heavy civil, foundations, concrete, earthwork, or closely related work. Candidates without directly relevant estimating experience will not be considered.

Job Description

• Prepare accurate, timely cost estimates for civil and foundation construction projects
• Review plans, specifications, bid documents, and scope requirements
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop detailed pricing for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work
• Partner with operations and field teams to validate production assumptions, constructability, and execution strategy
• Solicit and compare vendor and subcontractor pricing
• Identify scope gaps, risk items, and value-engineering opportunities before submission
• Build and organize bid proposals, clarifications, and supporting estimate documentation
• Maintain pricing history, estimate templates, and bid tracking information
• Support handoff of awarded work to project management and operations teams

Qualifications

• 3+ years of directly relevant civil estimating experience
• Background in foundations, concrete, sitework, earthwork, drilling, or heavy civil strongly preferred
• Strong plan-reading, takeoff, and bid-preparation skills
• Comfortable working with spreadsheets, plans, and estimate backup documentation
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple bids and deadlines
• Able to communicate clearly with field, operations, vendors, and leadership
